old fashioned cream custard pie

Custard pie is a tested and proven classic from ancient Romanesque times! In fact, it was they who discovered the egg’s binding qualities, and it has been centuries since humans have been creating this rich and delectable delicacy.

All throughout the world, there are many varieties of custard pies to be found! It is the classic North American custard pie recipe, which is seasoned with a little vanilla and nutmeg, that we are presenting here. A few more variants of this classic dish include pumpkin pie, cream pie, and buko pie—the latter two of which are natives of the Philippines!

It takes just a few minutes to mix together the eggy filling. Although the spices tend to float to the top of the mixture when it is cooked, the custard retains its shape nicely owing to the egg foundation. The texture is dense and not as light and fluffy as a cream pie, which is often lighter and fluffier.

While a handmade pie crust is usually used for this dish, you may use a store-bought pie crust if you want to save time. Also, make sure that you are using a baked pie crust rather than a graham cracker pie crust while making the pie.

THIS RECIPE REQUIRES JUST SIX INGREDIENTS:

– 200 grams.Of white sugar, I prefer to use the granulated one for this pie.

– 3 Cups.Of milk ( 750 ml).

– 6 large-sized eggs.

– 2 small spoons.Of vanilla extract.

– A sprinkle of ground nutmeg.

– An unbaked pie crust.

DIRECTIONS:

– First step: To start, you need to set the temperature of your oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

– 2nd step: Secondly, choose a medium pie pan of 9-inches, and spray it generously with a nonstick spray.

– Third step: Then, place the unbaked pie crust in the prepared pie pan, pushing the dough against the edges of the pie pan using your hands.

– Fourth step: After that, you can combine the granulated sugar with the six eggs, ground nutmeg, and vanilla extract in a medium mixing bowl.

– Fifth step: At this step, you need to add the milk to the previous mixture, and beat well using an electric mixer until you have an incorporated combination and a smooth mixture.

– Sixth step: Once the mixture is well mixed, pour it in the pie shell and season the custard gently with nutmeg, and serve immediately.

– Seventh step: And to finish, you can bake it for around 45 minutes, until the center is totally firm.
